2021 has officially drawn to a close whether you liked it or not (if you liked 2021, please kindly remove yourself). And as humans are creatures of habit and ritual, we decided to signal the start of a new Gregorian year by getting drunk in our living rooms while watching celebrities get drunk in much fancier settings. While hosting “Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party” in Miami, Miley Cyrus experienced a “wardrobe malfunction” (read: her top fell off) during a rendition of perennial classic “Party in the USA.” We couldn’t end the year without at least one incident featuring a famous person on live TV. It’s tradition, after all!

Miley Cyrus rang in 2022 with a wardrobe malfunction that she seamlessly recovered from and kept performing.
The 29-year-old was hosting “Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party” with Pete Davidson on NBC Friday night.
She had just started singing “Party in the USA” when her top seemed to break. She held it up with her hand before turning around, flinging the top to the side, and striding backstage.
Her band kept playing, and Cyrus returned wearing a bright red blazer. She continued singing and smiled.
“Everybody’s definitely looking at me now,” she joked, changing the lyrics to the song, adding: “I’m still in the most clothes I’ve ever worn on stage.”

Nothing says party in the USA like losing your top! If we were being honest, we would use another word to describe Miley’s choice of chestwear. I typically think of a “top” as something that covers the top half of your body. This particular piece resembles a sneeze hanky from your dad’s back pocket held together by nothing more than a hope and a dream. Thankfully, Miley had access to a larger piece of fabric to spare the populace from seeing human breasts on live television. The country would collectively faint from the shock.
Later in the show, [Pete] Davidson joked about it, too. “I heard we may have had a little boob slip, so in solidarity, here’s my boobies,” the “SNL” cast member said as he lifted his shirt to show his nipple.
Actually, Pete Davidson showed the world his nipple, so scratch that comment.
Well, we closed out the year with a near boob flash. It’s a well-known fact that if something embarrassing doesn’t happen to a singer on NYE, we experience six more weeks of winter. So you can thank Miley for an early spring!
