If there’s one thing RuPaul loves, it’s monetizing absolutely everything. From his drag to his land to his “singing”, Ru will always find a way to make a buck. So it’s no surprise that he’s developing a video game based on RuPaul’s Drag Race. This morning Leaf Mobile’s East Side Games announced they’d partnered with production company World of Wonder to develop a free mobile game that’ll “take players inside iconic moments from the series.” I hope that includes that time Pearl asked Ru if there was something on his face. That’s the most iconic moment I can think of.
The announcement reads (via Leaf.Mobile):
ESG will develop and publish the game in partnership with WOW, to develop a game to slay for, where players can werk the runway, design drag looks, and kiki with their favourite queens and RuPaul.
Thank you, gay corporate robot.
Players will be able to design looks in the Werk Room, walk the runway, experience RuMail, and even get pep talks from Mama Ru herself. I’m sure they’ll sound a little something like, “Who hurt you? Did your mom die? Did daddy disown you?” and then a follow-up bubble where you can type in your other traumas.
The announcement says that RuPaul’s Drag Race: The Mobile Game is set to be released in “the near future.” Gay corporate robot adds: “Yaaaas, SLAAAY! Do you accept the use of cookies? Cum get ’em while they’re hot so we can data mine your house down boots and delivahhh you some FIERCE targeted ads, QUEEN.”
