Tiger King, Netflix’s surreal crime docu-series that is 2% tigers and 98% crazy, continues to spread almost faster than corona. And the latest stop on this crazy train is––where else?––musical theater! Composer Andrew Lippa dropped a new song from the musical-in-progress on Soundcloud and it’s what you get when you combine stir craziness with jazz hands.
Like the rest of America, Andrew became so obsessed with the show after watching it in late March that he promised to make a musical out of it:
I’m making the musical of “Tiger King”. Don’t try to stop me. Don’t tell me you have the rights. You don’t. I will crush it. Bigger than “Cats”. Promise.

Since Broadway is closed until at least July , Andrew can’t stage a traditional show that people can see in person, so he’s gathered around 42 artists and is working with them to create original songs. And, one of the first offerings is a song yodeled out by Tony-winner Kristin Chenoweth, who is playing the role of Florida’s answer to Sweeney Todd, Carole Baskin.
The song is called “Little Pieces” and features Kristin singing about hacking up her husband and feeding bits of dead husband meat to her tigers:
“Little pieces! Little pieces!,” she sings. “That’s the way to feed ’em right. Cut the meat in little pieces, and you’ll see!”
She adds of her former hubby: “One of us is headin’ to the garbage heap. One of us is gonna be set free. One of us is gettin’ chopped up in their sleep. And it sure as hell ain’t me!”
Kristin recorded a video for the song on her iPhone at home and will put it out sometime next week:

Andrew promises more songs in the future. And speaking of future promises, Andrew should expect to get a lawsuit from Carole Baskin because she has always claimed that she never turned her husband into tiger meat. And she may even sue Kristin for that look. Where is the signature flower headband? Like Carole would ever wear a headband that looks like something a tween picked up in a gas station gift shop during a trip to Santa Fe in the 90s (actually Carole would wear that).
