When it comes to the phrase “flip-flop” mentioned around Idris Elba, I wish it would be referencing his flip-flop fuck with Chris Hemsworth on PornHub. But lately, “flip-flop” is what the rumors about Idris being the next James Bond have been doing.
The rumors about Idris replacing Daniel Craig as James Bond have been going around since the beginning of time. (The weed-eaten memory chip in my brain can only remember so far back, so it has felt like the beginning of time to me.) There was a rumor two years ago he was in the running, and he answered that by saying he’s too old to play Bond. The rumor squirted back up again earlier this month when director Antoine Fuqua was quoted as saying that Bond producer Barbara Broccoli told him that a black Bond is coming very soon and Idris is at the top of their wish list. But Antoine later said that those words never came out of his mouth and he never had a talk with Barbara Broccoli about Bond or Idris Elba.
And at the UK premiere of Yardie, the movie Idris directed (and sadly, it’s not a riveting biopic about his yard-long dick, I checked), he was asked by a reporter about the rumors, and he answered with one simple word. via The Independent
Elba was asked by Good Morning Britain reporter Divya Kohli at the premiere of his directorial debut Yardie whether she was looking at the next 007 to which he simply replied: “No”.
So that ends that… until the rumor comes back up in two weeks, and is shot down again two weeks later. This rumor is never going to die, and even long after the sad day that Idris Elba leaves this earth, we’re going to hear about how the ashes in his urn are in talks to play the next Bond. And Idris’ ashes would probably still make a better Bond than George Lazenby, no offense to you Lazenby stans out there.
