Are you someone who’s always wanted a cat, but you don’t want to deal with feeding them, or picking up their shits in a sandbox, or listening to them hack up a hairball on your rug, or looking into their eyes as they plot your demise? Well, Engadget reports that Japanese company Yukai Engineering has created the perfect thing for you.

Qoobo is a therapy robot that’s basically a furry pillow with a wagging tail. Qoobo’s tail wags when you pet it, which is supposed to soothe your nerves as you weep out tears onto its fur. Qoobo doesn’t have a head, so it can’t cry for food or bite your hand, and it doesn’t have legs, so it can’t run off as you try to pet it. Therapy dolls are already used to help people with Alzheimers and Dementia, so dolls being used to calm splintery nerves isn’t a new thing.

Yukai Engineering is planning to launch Qoobo through crowdfunding later this year, and they plan to ship it out to customers in June 2018. It will come in “husky grey” and “French brown,” and have an 8-hour battery life. And here’s the commercial for the therapy cat that looks like a decapitated Petster.

Even though it’s not a real cat and doesn’t have a pussy head or pussy legs, I still don’t trust the trick. It still has the spirit of a cat, and I’m sure that if you don’t give it enough attention, it’ll try to murder you by tripping your ass in the middle of the night.
