The time has come again this year when certain dog owners proudly march to Petaluma, California, to loudly declare, “I have the world’s ugliest dog!” However, amongst a sea of dogs with weird hair patches and gnarly underbites, only one can be crowned ugliest. And this year’s winner is Scooter, a hairless Chinese Crested dog whose face only a dog mother could love!
For the last 20 years, we’ve been looking at dogs from all over the country and deciding who deserves to be crowned the most hideous. Scooter ran away with the prize among a sea of candidates thanks to his dry skin and floppy tongue. via People:
Scooter triumphed over a group of unique-looking canines to win the 2023 World’s Ugliest Dog Contest at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, California on Friday.
This year’s champion was born with deformed back legs, according to TODAY. The 7-year-old was saved by the Saving Animals From Euthanasia (SAFE) rescue group.
As the grand prize winner, Scooter, a hairless Chinese Crested dog, receives $1,500, a trophy, and the adoration of the contest’s thousands of fans.
Scooter is not only the ugliest boy, but he’s also a little trooper. He was born with deformed back legs that faced backward and was turned into animal control for euthanasia. However, thanks to the Saving Animals From Euthanasia (SAFE) group, Scooter could achieve the great honor of winning the Ugliest Dog contest. With his back legs the way they are, Scooter gets tired quickly but with a new cart, he’s able to do more. Congrats, Scooter! Your ugly face has warmed hearts everywhere!
