Royal historian Marlene Koenig was doing a remote interview with the BBC to lend her expert opinion on the tabloid phone hacking trial involving Prince Harry. No offense, but snoooore. Luckily, Marlene’s interview was injected with a little drama when her cat, Fleur Victoria, jumped into the shot. All she wanted was to lie on her human’s lap, and, usually, what Fleur wants, Fleur gets. But, on this day, Marlene wasn’t willing to share the spotlight (RUDE). She caught Fleur mid-jump, smoothly depositing her off-camera before answering presenter Sally Bundock’s question. Professional? Maybe. An anti-feline hate crime? Definitely.
Marlene didn’t acknowledge Fleur’s cameo until the end of the interview when she apologized for the interruption. Sally responded:
“Marlene, cats often appear in this programme, I have to say. I have regular contributors whose cats, they want to be the star of the show. We have no problem with that.”
Later, Marlene told the BBC that Fleur is “the queen of the house” and “going viral was not on my bingo card today.” Here’s the video and some Fleur photos that Marlene graciously shared on Twitter:

(@royalmusing) In other tweets, Marlene assured the masses that Fleur “got cuddles later” and joked that the furry little star was already “demanding an agent.” Good! Know your worth, Fleur. And make sure Marlene doesn’t steal your money like other notorious stage moms. Every single dollar earned should go towards treats, toys, and kitty cat bedding!
