Get ready, people! Lady Gaga is an Oscar winner (for Best Song for co-writing Shallow), but she’s been trying to get her hands around a Best Actress Oscar. Gaga’s latest role is playing a singing and dancing Harley Quinn, opposite Joaquin Phoenix as a singing and dancing Joke in Joker: Folie à Deux. Joaquin already won the Best Actor Oscar for playing the Joker in the first movie, and now it’s Gaga’s turn! Director Todd Phillips announced yesterday that filming on Joker 2 has wrapped, and he shared more pictures of Gaga’s Harley Quinn and Joaquin’s Joker. And you can practically hear the engines roaring up on Joaquin and Gaga’s latest Oscar campaigns!
Joker is a double Oscar-winner, with Joaquin getting Best Actor and the composer, Hildur Guðnadóttir, winning Best Original Score at the 2020 show. The movie also became the first R-rated movie to make a billion dollars worldwide. In the second film, Zazie Beetz returns to reprise her character from the first movie. The sequel also stars Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey. Pictures have been dropping out of that set like a bad case of Taco Bell, but now Todd Phillips has shared a new up-close and official picture of Lady Gaga and Joaquin from the movie, which comes out in October 2024.
This PR tour will probably be a mess, with Gaga and Joaquin trying to out-method each other by burping up stories about how far they went for their ART. It’ll be a method-off for the ages.
