Dogs will eat anything. Grass, garbage, their own vomit. They’re indiscriminate when it comes to what goes into their mouths (very relatable). While we might be a little disgusted by the idea of a dog re-eating its own meal, a couple in Oregon experienced a more sickening ordeal when their pups decided that their lotto ticket looked as good as a Beggin’ Strip. Turns out the ticket was a winner, so Rachel and Nathan Lamet had to do that thing where you wrench open a dog’s mouth to get something out. Ah, the joys of having a pet!
After picking up a ticket earlier, Rachel and Nathan left it unattended in their home. Unfortunately for them, their two Alaskan Klee Kias Apple and Jack took it upon themselves to chew up the paper in an attempt to recreate the classic scenario of “a dog ate my homework.” But this particular paper wasn’t worth a C-. It was worth $8. Yeah, that doesn’t sound like much but that’s like two small cappuccinos! via People:
“For some reason we left the ticket on the ottoman and they decided it was delicious,” Rachel Lamet — who shares dogs Apple, 11 months, and Jack, 2, with her husband Nathan — said in a news release.
“I went to bed and when I woke up it was eaten to the point that I thought it was unable to be checked,” Rachel added. “But my husband thought it was hilarious and someone might get a good laugh.”
She continued, “He said it’s for sure a winner.”
The couple decided to send in what was left of the ticket along with a photo of their four-legged companions and a note explaining what had occurred.
Upon receiving the destroyed ticket, the Oregon Lottery did the Lamets a solid and reconstructed it. They’re lucky that the lotto people didn’t mind touching dog drool. Considering it looked like this, whoever fixed it deserves some of that $8:
Rachel and Nathan won their prize and told the Oregon Lottery that they’ll be getting more chew toys for the dogs. Apple and Jack’s master plan worked. Destroy something precious, and get some new toys and treats. Hey, I might try that with my husband sometime!
