Well, after we heard the news that The Weeknd’s scripted show, The Idol, got overhauled and the show’s co-creator Sam Levinson (who also created Euphoria) was hit with more allegations of him being an on-set asshole and creep, we now have a trailer for it. And this trailer is sponsored by: COCAINE.

Variety reports both The Weeknd (who’s using his government name Abel Tesfaye for this project) and Sam Levinson are going to do a deep dive into Hollywood’s underworld and all of the beauty and grunge that comes along with it. Yawn. Wake me up when there’s a story about someone who’s not fucking away the pain between long snorts of coke just to muster up a “good morning” every day. Still, the show, which also stars Lily-Rose Depp, is attempting to take a different approach and promises to bring high moments of drama and sexy times to keep it around for at least the next few years.

Co-created by Tesfaye, Levinson and Reza Fahim, “The Idol” is set against the backdrop of the music industry. The plot follows a self-help guru and cult leader who develops a complicated relationship with an up-and-coming pop idol.

The series has faced a few speed bumps. In April, Variety reported that Amy Seimetz had exited from her role as director on the project. Production had already filmed multiple episodes at the time of Seimetz’s departure and sources indicated that the show would be reworked to fit a new creative direction.

Here’s the sleazetastic trailer which just looks like it’s made up of The Weeknd’s home movies:

If some broad screaming out the words “More, More, More, ORGY!” aren’t enough to rope you into The Idol perhaps the name Elizabeth Berkley will. Yes, the Queen of Versayce herself is dusting off her seductive jazz hands to grace this production with more glamour than it deserves. Others tied to the show include Troye Sivan, Steve Zissis, and former Queen of TikTok Anne Heche, though the cast may change after the show’s retooling. And if this mess is a hit, we should expect a Euphoria crossover episode. And if that happens, the world’s supply of prop coke will be depleted.
