The New York Post says that before Australian model Jessica Lee hopped on a flight home from Singapore, she bought a foot-long Subway sandwich at the airport. She ate half before she got on the plane, and saved the rest on the flight. Unfortunately, Jessica made two fatal errors: she didn’t end up finishing the sub (I get it, Subway sandwiches are extra-gross when they’re soggy), and she forgot to declare her leftovers when she got to Australian customs. Specifically, she did not declare that she was bringing chicken and lettuce into the country. Since Australia doesn’t fuck around with their bio-security laws, Jessica was fined $2,664 ($1,803 US)! I knew paying so little for those $5 foot-longs would come back to bite us in the ass! Thanks for paying our karmic debt, Jess.
Jessica posted a TikTok sharing her sad, sad story. She said:
It is my mistake, but basically I bought a foot-long Subway at Singapore airport cuz I was a hungry gal from my 11-hour flight. I ate six inches before my second flight, and then saved the other six inches for the flight, which they’re more than happy with. Like, they’re fine with that.
And then, I didn’t eat it on the plane. And then, we came to Australia and we landed and… UGH! Basically, I thought the little declaration thing you do for your carry-ons and luggage… so, I didn’t tick chicken and I didn’t tick lettuce. Chicken and lettuce.
Jessica must pay the fee in 28 days. She says it’s gonna be extra difficult because she quit her job before the trip. In the caption, she writes, “starting that OF [OnlyFans] back up again to SURVIVE the next few months.” Here’s the TikTok:

A commenter called bullshit on Jessica’s story, and she responded with another video. This time she shared the full government document, and explained that, because she was so exhausted from traveling, “it didn’t click” that she’d have to declare her sub. In the comments she added: “biosecurity explained the fine is so high because chicken and lettuce (fresh produce) are high risk”:

On the plus side, the sad tale of Jessica’s illegal Subway sandwich is her biggest TikTok ever, with almost 300,000 views. And, for a wannabe influencer/model, that’s worth $1.803. In fact… I’m starting to think Jessica knew exactly what she was doing when she failed to declare that sub! Could this be the beginning of a new sandwich smuggling TikTok trend?
