Maria Chicas got the surprise of her life on Valentine’s Day after getting a lotto ticket from her husband on Valentine’s Day. No, she wasn’t shocked because he gave her a LOTTO TICKET AS GIFT, but because this particular ticket was worth $10 million dollars! It’s easy to forgive people for their crappy gifts when you’re a millionaire!
Maria initially thought he was pranking her, but when she took a closer look at the ticket, she saw that it was a winner. via UPI:
Maria Chicas of Haymarket told Virginia Lottery officials she was skeptical when her husband presented her with the Extreme Millions scratch-off ticket and told her it was a $10 million winner.
“I thought he was joking,” Chicas said.
A closer examination revealed the ticket, which her husband had bought a few days before Valentine’s Day from the In & Out Mart in Manasses, was indeed a top prize winner.
The Virginia Lottery said the ticket was the final $10 million winner for the Extreme Millions game, which is now being ended by officials.
Now THAT'S a lot of zeroes!!
This was the last top prize for Extreme Millions, and tickets will begin to be removed from stores across the state. Looking for a big win yourself? $5,000,000 Ultimate still has 3 top prizes remaining! pic.twitter.com/S3wg7D6DmE

Maria and her husband had the option of taking the $10 million over the next 30 years or the cash offer. They decided to go for the payout of $6,570,302.
It sounds like Maria’s husband bought himself a ticket a few days before the holiday and upon seeing that he was a millionaire, realized that he didn’t need to buy his wife a Kay Jewelers tennis bracelet this year. Nothing says I love you like a paper ticket that makes you an instant millionaire! I do feel a bit bad for him, though. How is he going to top a gift like that now? If you give me a $10 million dollar ticket this year, I better be getting a Powerball winner next year!
