Amazon’s Alexa is under fire after it was reported that a 10-year-old girl asked Alexa to give her a challenge and Alexa responded by telling her to play with an electrical socket. But don’t worry, Amazon says they’ve fixed the issue. Um? Really? They already eliminated the sentient portion of their AI systems that are trying to murder humanity? The Terminator and Matrix movies gave the impression that wouldn’t be accomplished in an afternoon of bad press.
Kristin Livdahl, the mother of the girl, tweeted that her daughter asked their Amazon Echo for a challenge. Kristin explained that she and her daughter were in the middle of some physical challenges “like laying down and rolling over holding a shoe on your foot,” after getting inspired by a physical education teacher’s YouTube videos. Her daughter wanted another one and Alexa suggested that she: “Plug in a phone charger about halfway into a wall outlet, then touch a penny to the exposed prongs.”
OMFG My 10 year old just asked Alexa on our Echo for a challenge and this is what she said. pic.twitter.com/HgGgrLbdS8

Jeff Bezos must have heard about how his computers were trying to kill people and had a spokesperson assure the Huffington Post that they quickly fixed the error.
“[We] will continue to advance our systems to prevent similar responses in the future.”
This “Outlet Challenge” is a real thing from TikTok, like when they were licking toilet bowls and shit. Those kids are really just testing the limits of their mortal husks. The challenge is insanely dangerous since it can cause fires, scorched electrical circuits, electric shocks and, you know, DEATH.
Kristin is no dumbass and yelled at Alexa: “No, Alexa, no!” But alsol, she didn’t raise no dumbass either and she said her child is “too smart to do something like that.” But at least Alexa was smart enough to know it couldn’t suggest the child blindfold herself and drive around to do the Bird Box Challenge. I mean, that would just be silly! She’s way too young to drive!
