Since going viral in 2017, former Hot Slut of the Day Nusret Gökçe, aka Salt Bae, has expanded his empire of luxury steakhouses to New York City (the reviews sucked), the UK, Greece, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar. The prices of Salt Bae’s food are exorbitant. It’s well-documented. So you’d think you would know what you were getting into if you choose to dine there. Well, not for a group of four richies who went to the new Nusr-Et Steakhouse in London last week. They managed to rack up £37,023.10 (about $50,000) in one sitting, and one of them posted the bill to social media with the caption, “That’s just taking the piss.” No, bitch, that’s just taking your money. Now, will that be debit or credit?
The bill went viral after finding its way to Reddit, where the poster wrote: “now this is just outrageous…” Some people were angry at Salt Bae for charging such high prices, others accused the original diner of posting the bill to social media as a “humble brag” about their wealth, and others just shrugged. Cuz, again, these diners knew what they were getting into. Here’s the bill:

(@Aliii7i) As you can see, the group order 20 baklavas, totaling £600. But their biggest food purchase was a gold-covered Tomahawk at £850. What really set them back was their five bottles of hoity-toity wine, via Evening Standard:
The drinkers ordered a bottle of 1996 Petrus, the famous merlot from Pomerol in Bordeaux, for £9100, followed by two bottles of a later Petrus vintage, the 2003, for £9950 apiece. The four then followed these three with two bottles of 2006 Dom Pérignon Rosé, sold at Nusr-Et for £810 a bottle. The wine was washed down with three bottles of water, each £9, and oddly — though not as oddly at the 20 portions of baklava — a single £11 Red Bull.
The bill also included a 15% service charge of £5000.
Salt Bae’s new location has been packed every night, but, like the NYC restaurant, the reviews have been less-than-stellar. The Evening Standard’s reviewer said it was:
…“amateurish Frankie & Benny’s-level food” adding: “the real truth about Nusr-Et isn’t that it is captivatingly tacky, some gaudy bin fire that you can’t tear your eyes from, but rather that it is really quite boring.”
So a shit place to eat and pay out the ass, but a fantastic place to work. Do the servers get the entirety of that £5000 service charge? If they do, the tip would make their poor, dry, chapped, salty-covered elbows totally worth it!
