Picture it: Galveston, Texas, 2021. Tropical Storm Nicholas is on its way to ravage the island city. You look outside at the waves, getting bigger and more ferocious by the minute. Then, a lone figure catches your eye. A man, dressed in black, wearing a creep white mask… with a… what is that? A knife? Covered in blood? WAIT A SEC. Is that fictional serial killer Michael Myers from the Halloween series?! You betcha. The police are called, put him in cuffs, discover the knife and blood are fake and expose Michael’s true identity: Mark Metzger III, an attorney who’s ticketed for disorderly conduct and soon released. Mark claims his “prank” was nothing more than an attempt to bring “a little bit of positivity in the gloomy doom.” Because nothing makes a hurricane more fun than the promise of murder!

Reporter Mycah Hatfield captured the Michael Myers prank and posted the video to Twitter:

And here are more pics, including one of Mark’s arrest:

Mark told Houston station KTRK that he was just having fun and trying to bring joy to the children. He claims he does this kinda stuff all the time. He said people on the beach asked him to pose with them for photos, and when the Beach Patrol even played the Halloween movie theme song when they spotted him. He added, via HuffPo:

“I guess there’s some people out there that don’t have a sense of humor or, you know, can’t please them all.”

Metzger compared his arrest to something straight out of the “Scooby-Doo” cartoon.

“It felt like a scene out of ‘Scooby-Doo’ after they handcuffed me and pulled the mask off, like, I would have gotten away with it if wasn’t for those meddling Karens, you know?” he told KTRK.

Mark also gave this interview to ABC13:

And posted this to his Facebook:

Galveston local Adam Garrison told KTRK that the guy doing the “stupid” stunt probably just wanted attention. But Adam admits he got a chuckle out of the prank and called it, “another day on the island.” Um, this makes sense, being that Galveston was also the place Robert Durst of Jinx fame murdered and dismembered his neighbor Morris Black in 2001. He hid Morris’ body parts in trash bags and threw them into Galveston Bay. Hmmm, the tourism board of Galveston needs to do a complete image rehaul. You can only ride the high of that Glen Campbell song for so many decades.
