Somehow Lily James, 32, managed to carve out enough free time from her busy extra-curricular career maybe-humping shady-as-hell married men who may or may not have “arrangements” with their wives, to sport a poofy, tousled wig and get painted up into the hottest glamourpuss of our or any generation, Pamela Anderson.
That wig might come in handy on role-playing nights in the future, so hopefully Lily gets to keep it. In the meantime, it’s slated for its best life perched on top of her head while playing Pamela opposite Sebastian Stan as Tommy Lee for Hulu’s high-class and extremely educational series, Pam and Tommy.
According to Variety:
Hulu has released a first look at Lily James and Sebastian Stan as Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee in the limited series “Pam and Tommy.”
The comedic series takes on the true story behind the release of the first ever viral video in history — the sex tape of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee. Along with Stan and James, the series also stars Seth Rogen, Nick Offerman, Taylor Schilling, Andrew Dice Clay, Pepi Sonuga, Spencer Granese, and Mozhan Marnò. Rogen will play Rand Gauthier, the man who stole and sold the tape.
I’m glad to hear it’s actually intended to be a comedy because any attempt to turn that sweat-, dick cheese- and jizz-soaked mess (I only remember seeing about three seconds of it, but I’m sure I’m right about the descriptors here) into high art might not turn out as planned. And “Rand Gauthier” sounds like an effete, kir-sipping villain at an Atlas Shrugged book club meeting that ends in a charming but dastardly swindle. Variety again:
“Pam and Tommy” was ordered to series in December 2020. Neither Anderson nor Lee is involved with the series. It is written and executive produced by Robert Siegel and DV DeVincentis, who serve as co-showrunners. Rogen will also executive produce along with Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, and Alex McAtee for Point Grey. Dave Franco will executive produce with Megan Ellison, Sue Naegle, and Ali Krug executive producing for Annapurna. Chip Vucelich, Dylan Sellers, and Sarah Gubbins will also executive produce. Craig Gillespie will direct and executive produce.
