This past weekend civilians Alex Janin and Grant Jefferson were moving out of their walk-up New York City apartment when famous person Woody Harrelson came out of nowhere and offered to help them. What the…? I moved three months ago and I couldn’t even manipulate my own brothers into helping! “We can’t, Emily, it’s a pandemic!” MY ASS.
Anyway, Alex explains that she was moving her bike into the U-Haul moving truck when Woody came out of a nearby store and asked where the closest Citi Bike station was. They talked for a bit, and he eventually insisted on helping the couple move. Grant told the Huffington Post, “I was just thinking to myself, ‘Only in New York!”, but let’s be real, this would have been possible in any city where Woody got high.
Alex posted the above picture on Twitter with the caption: “Woody Harrelson helped us move out of our apartment today. Love you, NYC.” It went viral and Alex explained what happened:

Grant said, via HuffPo:
“Naturally, I didn’t want to burden him with helping us but could not turn down having the story to tell my friends.”
Jefferson added that the kind encounter with the actor shifted the way he views celebrity. “I realized that letting fame harden you or make you pretentious may be more an internal thing than just the outcome of fame.”
Twitterers loved Woody’s good deed, but pointed out that the fiddle-leaf fig plant was on its way out of this world:

In another tweet, Alex added,“YES I am aware that my fiddle leaf is basically dead. And yes, Woody did tell me I should water it more.” And, hey, if there’s one thing Woody knows, it’s greenery.
Grant later shared that the couple decided to leave the plant on the street “for a (hopefully) better home”. He says he has a fantasy that Woody came back later and saved it. I doubt that happened, but if the plant is still on the side of the road, anyone hard up for cash should nab it! A dying fiddle leaf fig plant touched by THEE Woody Harrelson could generate some interest on eBay. Only in New York, babyyyy!
