Do you have any vocal tics? Like smacking your lips or stuttering or snorting or sucking your teeth? Apparently, I click my tongue. And I guess Jennifer Aniston liked to clear her throat a lot when she was playing Rachel on Friends. And this “discovery” is causing a “stir” after some dude brought it up in a TikTok video.
In the video, the user @cts.trphe says Jennifer has a “vocal tic” and once we notice it, it’ll ruin our lives. The joke’s on you, @cts.trphe, this pandemic already destroyed everything I hold true!
Here’s the video in which he exposes Jen for her throat-clearing:
@cts.trphe #stitch with @sheherzog I meeeeEEEAN come ON! #friends #rachel #HealthyCooking #ClassicCatch #fyp #foryoupage
In the clip, @cts.trphe shows a YouTube montage that was posted a couple of years ago, so this isn’t new information:
Please! Friends! One of you, Monica/Chandler/Phoebe/Joey/Ross, please give the poor woman a lozenge! I guess the throat-clearing has caused debate as to whether or not it was something Jennifer did unintentionally or simply an acting choice:
I'm not even a "Friends" fan and I can tell that it's not a Jennifer Aniston Vocal Tic it's a Rachel tic. Watch Jennifer in interviews and she doesn't do it.

More fake news. That "verbal tic" that Jennifer Aniston has in Friends? Yeah, no, that's called acting. She clears her throat when her character is uncomfortable with what she is saying (because it's a lie, or awkward, etc).
This is what acting is about.

In my humble, perfect opinion, the throat-clear was just one of the quirky little choices Jennifer Aniston made to play one Rachel Karen Green. And it wasn’t even the weirdest part of her performance. See Vanessa Bayer’s impression:
Oh! Yeah! Aw! Ohhh!
