Sleek, shelf-hopping cats, and not food or household supplies, are the real reason anyone makes the trek in any kind of weather to their neighborhood bodega to peruse the offerings. Bodega cats even had their own feature on WNYC, Bodega Cats In Their Own Words, and it was obviously far more hard-hitting journalism than any ridiculous fluff about politics that the station might have grudgingly served up alongside. Currently, Bodega Cats of Instagram brings the shop-glamorizing feline foolery. This week’s brilliant capture involves a nail-biter of a scene between a bored bodega cat and spotted little pig friend. Are bodega pigs really a thing, or was this one just visiting? These two seem pretty comfortable with each other, so perhaps they are both permanent residents.

Laughing Squid details the tense, suspense-filled interspecies altercation:

A daring bodega cat peeked around a big bag on a shelf and repeatedly poked a paw at a spotted bodega pig who was sleeping on the floor. The drowsy porcine had no desire to either wake or move and made it clear to the bothersome feline that such attention was completely unwarranted and unwanted.

Most of us have experienced that annoying sibling in childhood who tried to wake us up out of a sound sleep on a Saturday when they were bored and wanted to play. And like us, spotted piggy just wasn’t having any of it.
