Our throaty cries of “JUSTICE FOR LISA TURTLE” have not been in vain! According to Entertainment Weekly, Lark Voorhies, who played Bayside High’s most glamorous student, will be back for the upcoming Saved By The Bell reboot after all. Lark, who probably taught Elizabeth Berkley everything she needed to know about HIGH FASHION in preparation for her eventual role in the Best Picture In The Entire World Don’t @ Me winning film Showgirls, is the last of the original cast members (save Screech who has been, um, otherwise occupied) to be announced for reboot.
Back in February, Lark read a page from her diary aloud to Dr. Oz in which she expressed feeling “a bit slighted and hurt” at not having been asked back when other cast-mates had already been confirmed. She suggested that it might be due to her having a “puzzling disorder.” Lark has been diagnosed with a Schizoaffective disorder. But I’m hoping that NBC just accidentally sent her invitation to Jason Voorhees instead. Let us pray he never reviewed it or this reboot is going to be a real bloodbath!
Here’s Lisa Turtle 2.0. I don’t know about you, but Netflix needs to get their shit together and fire Lily Collins so they can give us Lisa in Paris next season.
EW reports:
When the Saved by the Bell revival drops its debut season on Peacock, fans of the original can count on seeing Lark Voorhies return to the role of fashionista Lisa Turtle.
According to NBC’s streaming service, “when the show picks up with Lisa, she is thriving with a successful career in fashion.” It is not yet known how many episodes she will appear in or when she will pop up.
Mark-Paul, Tiffany, Mario and Elizabeth will all be returning. The plot of the reboot has something to do with Zack becoming the Governor of California and closing a bunch of inner city schools so Bayside High is flooded with poor children or something. Who knows and who cares! Lisa’s back and so is her beret (and if we’re lucky, lots and lots of scrunchies), that’s all that really matters.
