It’s been a minute since we last heard about Richard Simmons and his, um, unusual situation at home. But, as always, when times get tough, Richard swoops in, wearing his best lycra micro-shorts and sequined tank, to save the day. As everybody is locked away in self-isolation, the need for living room calisthenics has never been higher. And fortunately, in the past three weeks, Richard (or, more likely, Richard’s team) has uploaded a bunch of vintage workout videos to his YouTube page––the site’s first uploads in more than 6 years!
Unfortunately, Richard is still noticeably absent from all of the recent videos, having been out of the public eye since 2014 (which originally fueled all of those rumors about his health and whereabouts). But according to a representative who recently spoke to Fox News, Richard is continuing to feel the burn, and the love.
“We have had an overwhelming request for Richard to return in some way as a comfort to all dealing with the pandemic…We thought we would start by re-releasing some workouts and other inspirational content on his [YouTube] channel. Richard is very touched by the outreach.”
But Richard’s not the only guru bringing back the fitness. The (other) queen of at-home workouts, Oscar-winner Jane Fonda, is reviving a bunch of her iconic routines from the 80’s via her TikTok. And this queen––at 82––is actually getting down all fours and working! it! out!
For any children wondering who these people are, Jane says it best: “Google me.” But she forgot to add, “young dumb fuck!”
