USA Today reports that a new hotel has opened in Japan that is perfect for YouTubers, people who have sex on camera, and people who are afraid of getting murdered in a strange hotel. I mean, that could still happen, but at this one, your murder will be live-streamed. So your killer will be caught on camera. Yes, a hotel has opened which will live-stream camera feeds from rooms for a guest’s full stay. But the stay will only cost you $1 a day.
The Asahi Ryokan 10-room hotel in Fukuoka has existed for over 30 years, but new owner Tetsuya Inoue, who inherited the hotel from his grandmother a year ago, is shaking things up. Now billing the place as the “One Dollar Hotel” guests will be treated to a service fee of one single dollar. But you’ll have to become the star of your own Big Brother show.
Tetsuya’s goal is for the hotel to be completely funded by YouTube advertising income alone and not accommodation fees. So if he’s live-streaming the rooms, people will watch and then ads will pay him money and boom: an economical hotel, right? He says he hopes this pays off telling USA Today:
“I started this project just three weeks ago, so even I don’t know whether it can be profitable.”
The $1 includes taxes and fees. The camera is usually on a table in your room, and a microphone is switched off. But you can turn it on if you’re a freak like that. There’s no camera in the common bathrooms, so you can shit without being filmed.
Tetsuya has been broadcasting his own home on the hotel’s YouTube Channel in the meantime since he doesn’t have a steady flow of people to creep on yet, I guess. His channel now has six thousand subscribers who are probably hoping to see guests have sex on a YouTube live-stream. What else?!
This hotel may take time to pick up steam, but it will be great for the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Once the athletes are done in Tokyo, they can head on over to Fukuoka. Those athletes are fucking so much anyway. They may as well get some porn offers out of it.
Here’s a trailer for the hotel:
