Open Post: Hosted By Reese Witherspoon Discovering TikTok

Please note the beyond-polite face on Reese Witherspoon’s 15-year-old son Deacon Phillippe. He could teach a master class to all the other famous teenage spawn in Hollywood on how to successfully maintain your patience and composure when your mom goes peak-cringe on social media by asking you to teach her how to make a TikTok.

So, Reese Witherspoon has discovered TikTok, and she recently posted a video to Instagram showing just how enthusiastic she was to join it with the other moms who just discovered it (guilty!). The only problem was, Reese didn’t know what TikTok was, so she dragged her son into her mom dilemma, and had him educate her.

Reese: Should I be on TikTok?
Deacon: Sure.
Reese: Will you help me make a video for TikTok?
Deacon: Okay yeah, I’ll do that.

What follows is Reese bringing out such dance moves as the “rolly rolly rolly,” the “breaks the legs,” and a shoulder-dusting move Reese probably thinks is called the “Can you please look at least a little presentable for church?” I guess she only brings out the double bend-and-snap at weddings.

Reese’s first TikTok was featured a 9-grid format and was set to “Mr. Sandman.” On the Embarrassing Mom Shame Scale, it was actually pretty low. Which is good news for Deacon; it means he steered his mom in the right direction. And I think I know why. Deacon turns 16 next month. You can’t tell me he didn’t agree to shepherd his mother on her inaugural TikTok journey out of the goodness of his heart. Deacon is totally expecting payback in the form of a TikTok featuring Reese placing a really big red bow on the hood of a really nice car that she presents to him as he blows out the candles on his cake. I see you, Deacon.
