It was recently declared the pumpkin spice craze has gone too far with the invention of Pumpkin Spice Spam and it ending summer early. But I’m going to walk back that declaration and say that Krispy Kreme has restored my faith in the PSU (Pumpkin Spice Universe).
Krispy Kreme has created a Pumpkin Spice Doughnut WITH CHEESECAKE FILLING and cheesecake icing on top. This is honestly what the pumpkin spice gods intended and I’m about to put on my J. Crew booties and Banana Republic cardigan before doing my hair up in prom curls before marching my ass over to a Krispy Kreme and loudly and proudly living that Christian Girl Autumn life.

The donut is basically Krispy Kreme Pumpkin Spice Original Glazed Doughnut (which, by the way, is also returning this season) stuffed with cheesecake Kreme and topped with cheesecake icing. But here’s the catch: The two donuts are only available for one week only starting September 2. So time is QUITE LITERALLY running out as you read this! But fear not. While the limited-time donuts are only available through September 8, Krispy Kreme’s Classic Pumpkin Spice Cake Doughnut and Pumpkin Spice Latte are available now through Thanksgiving.
I am a little worried about the fact that it’s only available for one week…As much of a doughnut fanatic as I am, I’m equally committed to my laziness. Which makes things hard as I live in New England where Dunkin’ Donuts is king and a Krispy Kreme can be hard to find.
I’m also glad that Krispy Kreme is taking a stand against all the pumpkin spice monstrosities and doing something to better humanity.
If this news alone isn’t the nail in summer’s coffin, the influx of pumpkin spice products certainly is. While many favorites like pumpkin and pumpkin spice cinnamon rolls live up to the hype, other gourd-centric treats turn out to be rather disappointing. For that reason, Krispy Kreme is also offering a “Pumpkin Spice Purchase Protection” plan, which lets you trade ANY pumpkin spice product on the market for one of Krispy Kreme’s pumpkin spice donuts for FREE.
“Bad pumpkin spice products shouldn’t happen to good people” said Dave Skena, Chief Marketing Officer for Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation, in a press release. “If you’ve been impacted by the proliferation of pumpkin spice products that don’t make sense, come to Krispy Kreme and we’ll make it all better with a free pumpkin spice doughnut.”
A free pumpkin spice doughnut for a terrible pumpkin spice product, a wrong has truly been righted! Whoever the mayor of Krispy Kreme is, he or she needs to run for higher office, immediately. Because this is the kind of leadership we need!
