Krispy Kreme, makers of delicious donuts with a truly gag-inducing name (don’t tell me your mind doesn’t go to a gross place when you hear it), has announced plans for a brand new, giant flagship location in NYC’s Times Square.
Krispy Kreme’s new store is set to open in 2020 at the corner of 48th and Broadway, and will be the second location in all of NYC (there’s currently one Penn Station). It will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and will feature the world’s largest “HOT NOW” light (the light that tells people that hot Krispy Kreme donuts have been made). But the most exciting part – well, maybe not to anyone with diabetes – will be the “donut theater,” which will show customers freshly-made donuts passing through a donut glaze waterfall. There used to be a time when standing at a window and watching a hole get glazed in Times Square meant something very different.
Day or night, rain or shine… We’ll be there! Our new #TimesSquare Flagship will be open 24/7! Hot and fresh #OriginalGlazed Doughnuts, all-new doughnut experiences, and exclusive merch, we can’t wait to meet you in 2020! #KrispyKreme #NYC pic.twitter.com/NGtYWJvVpr

But this isn’t just a big deal for New York – this is a big deal for all of us! I can’t wait to see the internet’s newest viral animal sensation of New York. Move out of the way, Stripper Rat and Taco Squirrel. Make way for Kremey Roach, a cockroach caught on iPhone video bathing in the Krispy Kreme glaze waterfall. And I especially can’t wait for the inevitable video remix where someone sets it to TLC’s “Waterfalls.”
